The project will develop analytical approaches to the structure and the dynamics of strongly correlated plasmas. We will concentrate on the effect of an external magnetic field, which gives rise to an interesting interplay of correlations and magnetization. Similar behavior is expected to arise in rotating dusty plasmas due to the mathematical equivalence of the Coriolis and Lorentz forces. Our analytical theories will be rigorously tested against molecular dynamics simulations, and the behavior of finite dust systems in traps will be compared to strongly coupled macroscopic systems.
