This project is devoted to a self-consistent, multi-scale simulation of strongly correlated dust particles in a partially ionized complex plasma. In order to correctly describe the non-equilibrium nature of a realistic plasma, including ion flow and wake field effects, we will go beyond the static Debye-Yukawa approximation. Our combined molecular dynamics simulation - kinetic theory approach will provide the theoretical and computational basis for a systematic exploration of the very different types of structural arrangement that were recently observed. The analysis of the phase diagram will be performed for a broad range of particle numbers and include the crossover to a macroscopic system as well as the influence of strong magnetic fields. As the primary tool for these investigations we will use the three-particle correlation function.
