Project B14

Topic: Lateral structuring of a planar, dielectric barrier discharge
Project leader:   Stollenwerk, Lars, Prof. Dr., Institut für Physik, Uni Greifswald

In this project a planar barrier discharge operated close to atmospheric pressure is investigated. Due to the special geometry of the discharge cell the discharge commonly splits up into many current channels. Thus, properties of the classical glow-like discharge and the filamentary discharge coexist. The research project is focused on an experimental setup with a semiconductor electrode. Important key electrode parameters can be controlled to influence the emerging discharge patterns itself. The optical surface charge measurement makes it possible to describe the dynamics of the discharge in detail.
